Dear Customers

We are as pleased as you are to find out that the Island is in Tier 1. This means the shops, pub and artisans at Arreton Barns are reopening and looking forward to welcoming you back from Wednesday 2nd December! 

The Corn Exchange, The Pub and Sweet Memories will be open from Wednesday morning and the team are excited to welcome you back and help you with your Christmas shopping.

The Corn Exchange will be offering a Safe Shopping Experience to those who have been shielding or don’t feel safe amongst the crowds. Call Jane on 01983 539365 to arrange an early morning or after hours exclusive shopping trip at The Corn Exchange.

The artisans around the site will be opening too, we recommend checking out their individual Facebook pages to see opening times. 

Little ones need not worry as Santa will also be making a return to the Barns this December. He will be here from 21st – 24th December (before he heads off to the North Pole to start delivering presents to children of the world) More details will be on our Facebook page shortly.

Dear Customers,

As we enter lockdown 2.0, it’s another bitter blow for many businesses. 

Firstly we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Your support in buying local has made a huge difference to everyone on site. Thank You! We appreciate it! 

In accordance with the Government guidelines shops and the pub on site at Arreton Barns are closed from 5th November (EXCLUDING Farmer Jacks Farm Shop, they are still open for you to buy food and essentials).

Hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel with a scheduled reopening date of 2nd December.

In the meantime many of our artisans and shops are selling items online or via an appointment only pick-up, to be arranged via email. Please follow us on Facebook to be kept up to date. https://www.facebook.com/ArretonBarns

You may have noticed people are starting their Christmas shopping a whole lot earlier this year – well it has been a very strange year. 

Feel safe and secure and come to Arreton Barns, your one-stop-shop for all your Christmas shopping needs this festive season. Avoid the hustle and bustle of the high street, trying to find parking and enjoy a more relaxed shopping experience while supporting local businesses. With an ample onsite car park you can drop your bags off before enjoying a warming lunch and festive tipple in the Dairyman’s Daughter, a traditional pub serving food all day. Make a day of it and get yourself into the holiday spirit. 

The Island’s largest arts and craft centre

Home to a vast array of talented artists, makers and craftspeople you are sure to find a truly unique and meaningful gift. Items are handcrafted, many in traditional ways, so invest in some quality pieces to decorate your home or place under the tree. You can even get your Christmas food shop at the onsite farm shop, Farmer Jacks.

It’s been a challenging year hasn’t it? And our children have felt this too, so here at Arreton barns we’ve decided to hold some spooktacular, safe, but fun events for your little monsters. So if you are looking for things to do on the Isle of Wight this Halloween and half term, here’s our list of what’s on;

Halloween Activities 

Daily Spooky Treasure Trails £1

From Friday 23rd October – Sunday 1st November

Collect your trail from the Corn Exchange. Follow the clues and spot what Halloweeny item each artisan has in their window. Random prize draw for one lucky winner

Fancy Dress Competition 

Get the little ones to dress up when visiting Arreton Barns from 23rd October to 1st November. Take a picture of them in their Halloween costume as the Barns for a chance to win a prize

Here at Arreton Barns we have taken every precaution to ensure that when you visit you have a safe, secure experience without losing the charm and relaxed feeling you have when wandering around our beautiful site at the heart of Arreton on the Isle of Wight.

So what are the changes: 

  • When entering any of the shops you will be required to wear a face covering at all times unless you are under 12 years old or except. 
  • Please note how many people are allowed in one shop at a time.
  • We’d appreciate it if you stuck to the current social distancing guidelines.
  • When entering the pub, please wait where indicated and a member of the team will seat you.
  • Face coverings are to be worn at all times in the pub when away from your table, unless you are under 12 years old or except. There is strictly no standing at the bar.

Escape the high street for a more relaxed shopping experience. During lock down we were all encouraged to shop locally and support local businesses. Here at Arreton Barns you have your pick of artisans providing handcrafted,quality products for sale all year round.

Arreton Barns is open daily from 10am and there is ample parking available, meaning you can shop til you drop without having to worry about getting to and from the car.

Dear customers,

The team here at The Dairyman’s Daughter is looking forward to welcoming you back from Saturday, 4th July.

We’ve been busy rearranging the pub to comply with the latest government guidelines. Also we will be introducing table service, which for us will be a whole new ball game. There may be some hiccups in the first few weeks, so please be patient and bear with us.

Initially our opening hours will be from 10am to 6pm to help us adjust to the many changes. We will be able to take limited bookings inside the pub, but only by email request please.

We’re looking forward to seeing you, it’s been too long!

Update 23rd March 2020

To all our customers and visitors, 

It is with heavy heart that we have taken the decision to close our doors as of Monday 23rd March due to the continuing crisis surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic.

This closure includes all shops and craft units at the barns (not including Farmer Jacks), and The Dairyman’s Daughter pub. 

Please rest assured that we will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.  We look forward to welcoming you to Arreton Barns again soon!

The Craft Cabin’s new look

The Craft Cabin here at Arreton Barns has been undergoing renovations. The grand reveal of the new and improved Craft Cabin took place in February. if you haven’t been to Arreton Barns in a while head on down and pay Nina a visit in her brand new unit. Nina said:

“6 weeks, but finally, I’m OPEN. I have make-shift shelves and displays until my new ones are made but I’m getting there, I hope to see everyone soon”

HUGE donation to IW Museum of Glass

Exciting news for the team at the Isle of Wight Museum of Glass here at Arreton Barns, last month they received their largest-ever donation of over 600 pieces of glass. Anton said:

“We have had donations before, but nothing of this magnitude. We are most appreciative of Roger’s generous gift and will care for it well.”

The Dairyman’s Daughter

After an action-packed day at The Barns head to our onsite pub, The Dairyman’s Daughter to enjoy a satisfying meal and refreshments.

This march they have a great line-up of live music for you to enjoy with talented local musicians including, Black Daniels, JC & Angelina, Dog House Band and so much more.

Mother’s Day – 22nd March

This Mother’s Day why not spoil your lovely mum with a well deserved afternoon treat. Browse the craft village to find a special gift before settling down at The Dairyman’s Daughter with a yummy meal and a glass of wine.

The extensive menu will be available from 12noon all the way through the day, as well as a delicious specials board. Catering to a number of dietary requirements including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian there is something to suit everyone.

What’s new in the craft village?

New Year, new us. This year we have kicked 2020 off with a few updates in the craft village. A number of our artisans/ craft studios are in the process of updating/renovating their studios and a few are moving to new units. Keep an eye on the Arreton Barns Facebook page for the most up to date information.

Let us also take this opportunity to introduce you to the new additions to the Arreton Barns family… 

Hatter and Hare

Jo and Sarah joined us at The Barns last September, if you have not already paid them a visit be sure to pop in and see them. Making bespoke pieces of clothing from older clothes and materials as well as handmade jewellery and other accessories it’s the perfect stop for fans of upcycling. 

Tin Man

Russel joined the craft village toward the end of last year. If you are a fan of horror classics, pop culture or upcycling, he is a must-visit. With everything from upcycled lamps, wall hooks, windchimes and candlesticks as well as original artworks and handpainted furniture. Find yourself a truly original piece influenced by Sci-Fi and fantasy as well as Russel’s own individual style.

Dandelion Crafts

Our newest addition to the craft village, Dandelion Crafts is a community interest company of dementia carers who make sensory products and other handmade gifts for those suffering with dementia such as fiddle blankets, sensory bags and other lovely goodies, all of which can be seen and bought at their creative hub right here at Arreton Barns.
