Amazing pictures are painted in pigmented beeswax using heated tools such as iron, stylus and hairdryer. Encaustic is a 2000 year old art, the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians used to melt wax over heated charcoal and paint with palette knives. That’s how all your icon paintings were created. It is a lost art revived with the aid of electricity and the word encaustic means to burn in.
